Hi there,

I am Dejan Skeledzija, an online publisher with over 25 years of experience. I have lived in Valencia, Spain, for the past 15 years.

As you can see, I’m just a regular guy working hard to live on my terms.

I was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia, which has four seasons: incredibly foggy and rainy falls, winters, and springs. However, these seasonal changes had a profound impact on my mood, even leading to depression.

A chance visit to Spain‘s Gandia just before Christmas marked a turning point in my life. The sunny, pleasant, and beautiful weather was a welcome contrast to the gloom of Slovenia, and I knew instantly that I wanted to live there.

Years later, my dream became a reality. I boldly moved from Slovenia to Valencia with a car, leaving the familiar for the unknown behind.

If I could help tourists finding the best time to visit Spain, this would be invaluable for many of them.

In Slovenia, I had an easy and secure government job I loved. Friends and family had much to say about leaving such a blessed position and everything else behind.

Fortunately, Spanish friends treated me like a family and helped me navigate the new culture and language. With my engineering diploma and extensive experience as an online publisher, I was well-equipped to start a new chapter in my life.

A view of the city and a port from my balcony, 25 floors above Valencia.

As I continue to build my life in Spain, I carry lessons from my journey. I know that with determination and resilience, anything is possible.

I hope my story will inspire you and serve as a beacon of hope for you, my dear traveller, who dare to dream and chase your aspirations.

For years, I have been thinking about how to use my experience living in Spain to help others. Because – when travelling to new countries, I always feel like my first day in Spain: small, vulnerable, and lost

The website Spain Travel Insider was born to help tourists with my expat insider views and tips on where to turn, what to see, and where to stay to make the most of their holidays in Spain.

Preparation for travel can be highly time-consuming because, in many cases, no one significant, reliable source is available. When I travel, even inside Spain, I spend weeks preparing for the trip—and while it’s fun, it’s also tedious. One of the most tedious tasks is planning meals on the trip to keep energy and morale high!

Spain Travel Insider is dedicated to providing complete, real-world, honest guides and tips on places to visit and stay in Spain.

I am grateful for the opportunity to share my story with you. I hope it will inspire you to dream big and continue exploring the world.

Sincerely,

Dejan Skeledzija
